Shenington Revival

hi all

Finally got round to writing something on the event for the website.

The atmosphere at Shenington was amazing and apart from some showers, there was some good sunshine to be had. There were around 90 karts on show over the weekend. Amongst the regulars, there were lots of new faces at the event and lots of new karts. Dennis Owen had a Zip Silverstone/Magnum Villiers with some unusual tilletsons fitted, Guy Butler-Henderson appeared with his nearly- completed Fox/2x McCullochs 101B and Alan McVarish with a Fastakart 77/Villiers 150cc. The three Barllotti Imps that Tony Brinkworth wrote about in the last BHKC newsletter were also there and looked stunning!

On Saturday, Barrie Williams (Our Patron), Charles Demirjian (president of Tilletson carburettors) and some visitors from Ireland were amongst the guests. On Sunday, Wendy Katton and Rosemary Janes (members of the Jack Barlow’s family) attended and presented the concour trophies. It was also good to see Ken Walker who was able to take a break from his busy schedule to provide the on-track commentary.

We got extra track time on Friday and Saturday but delays on Sunday meant that we only got our scheduled lunch time session.

Of other interesting karts, Rob Cooper had a nicely restored Barlotti Dino, this is the Barlotti model with the front suspension however it was Mike Hodgins with his 1979 example who took the Barlotti honours in the concours competition.

Shenington KRC’s Saturday evenings hog roast and live music proves as popular as ever as did Satoko Bagnell’s and Jane Ostins (BHKC) lunchtime catering.

Finally thanks to the marshalls, helpers and everyone who came along, to make it a memorable event. More in the next BHKC newsletter and Karting Magazine.
